Jeff Phillips
Jeff Phillips is a singer/songwriter originally from New York City, home of the Yankees and the best Sicilian pizza in the world. Born with no movement in his left hand, Jeff found that by playing guitar left-handed (using his dysfunctional hand for strumming) and playing with only a pick essentially taped to his hand, he was able to learn with very minimal hand use. Against the odds, Jeff attended and graduated from the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston, where he majored in Performance and Composition.
He has since performed on the Mitch Albom show out of Detroit and the Bree Walker show in Los Angeles and his music is receiving strong college and internet radio play. Jeff recently recorded his debut album, Handful of Gimmes, in Miami, Florida with producer Aaron Fulkerson. The tracks were mixed by Grammy-award winning engineer Ikor Gastiminsa (most recently known for his work with Shakira) and mastered by acclaimed engineer Bob St. John (whose credits include Steely Dan, Def Leppard and many more). Songs from the album are being used in the documentary film “the Sandwich Kid” from filmmaker Keri Bowers as well as the film “Bumping off Burt” from Q-station productions.
Currently, Jeff resides in Los Angeles, California where he can be seen exciting audiences with his energetic live performances. He has opened for bands such as the English Beat and the Smithereens, and was recently chosen to play at the acclaimed Boise Indie-fest at Quest arena. He was also featured on the last installment of Frosty, Heidi and Frank’s “Should I Stay or Should I Go” where he won acclaim, and more than a few new fans.
When asked about his music Jeff claims, “It’s easy to be authentic if you write from the heart,” and adds with a smile, “Thank God there will never be another me in the world.”
